Winter Fest comes to Ritzville once a year, and serves as the kickoff to all holiday events within the community.
In keeping with tradition, the 2020 festivities will being with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on the front lawn of the Ritzville Public Library. Social distancing measures will be in place and masks will be required for those attending.
The event will also be streamed on Facebook Live through the Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. The event will take place on Friday, December 4, at 5:30 p.m.
This year, community members are being asked to decorate ornaments to be hung on the Christmas tree in order to celebrate our community and bring some extra holiday cheer back to Ritzville, especially after a long year.
On a normal year, our events would move into the Holiday Bazaar and Children's Movie Matinee on the Saturday following our Tree Lighting Ceremony. These events are cancelled or modified this year, but plan to return in 2021!
Winter Fest continues with a new event this year!!! The first-ever Santa Parade will take place on December 12 at 1 p.m. in downtown Ritzville. Make sure to stick around at the end of the parade, when Ritzville Volunteer Firefighters will hand out treat bags to every child along the parade route.
Winter Fest continues with virtual contests, and prizes will be awarded in each event!
The Virtual Gingerbread House Contest is open to all ages. Entries must be submitted via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Photos of the creator and the house must be emailed, as well as a photo of just the gingerbread house.
Each photo of the entries will be uploaded to Facebook, and the house with the most "likes" will receive a prize! Entries must be submitted by December 18.
This year, we are also hosting a Holiday Word Search. Throughout the city, businesses have placed holiday letters in their windows for the search. Use the form below to record where you find each letter, and then see how many holiday words you can create! Letters can be used multiple times, once found.
The individual with the most valid holiday words will receive a prize! Make sure to return your forms by December 22.
